PAOLO PAGANO received his M.S. degree in Physics in 1999 from Trieste University (I). In 2003 he received his Ph.D. degree in High Energy Physics from Trieste University having worked for the COMPASS collaboration at the European Laboratory of High Energy Physics – CERN (Geneva, CH). In 2004 he was affiliated at the Institute of Particle Physics – HISKP – at Bonn University (D). In 2006 he received a Master in Information Technology from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa (I). In the same year he joined the REal-TIme System laboratory (RETIS, http://retis.sssup.it), today embedded in the Institute of Communication, Information and PerceptionTechnologies of the Scuola (TeCIP, http://tecip.sssup.it). From 2009 he is with the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT, http://www.cnit.it). From the same year, he is leading Networks of Embedded Systems (a.k.a. Real-time Wireless Networks, http://noes.sssup.it) area at the CNIT National Laboratory of Photonic Networks in Pisa. His research activities have a specific focus on Wireless Sensor Networks and Vehicular Networks. He is responsible of public and private research grants in the domain of Intelligent Transport Systems and Smart Plants. He is the CNIT representative at the Livorno Port Authority (http://www.porto.livorno.it/en-us/homepage.aspx) for a joint collaboration aimed at implementing (inter-modal) ITS services. He is participating (on behalf of CNIT) to the standardization committees ISO-TC204/WG16, ETSI-TC-ITS, and ITU Collaboration On ITS. He co-authored about 70 peer reviewed papers to international journals and conferences.
